Kiefer is allergic to cats. So, of course, Esme loves him. She loves him more than me, the giver of food and catnip.
In addition to their battle over the bed, Esme has also decided to claim Kiefer’s yoga mat as her own.
With Kiefer, Esme battles passive aggressively. I have absolutely no idea where she gets that from….
Passive aggressive is probably her best tactic because if Kiefer’s hand ever ended up like this, Esme would probably be out on her kitty behind.
But because I have a whore-cat, Kiefer’s hand will remain scratch-free. Seriously. She loves guys and could care less about women.
Where did I go wrong? Maybe I should rethink wanting a daughter.

Animals always win, they are smarter, period! Oh and cuter, they just wrap us around their paws, allergies and all!

Now that CJ has gone to live with a friend of mine, I am living vicariously through your catscapades. Have I mentioned that already?
July 30th, 2012 at 6:28 am
I read about CJ. =( But at least Sarge should be breathing easier now.

That color of green and bamboo looks good on Esme!!
July 30th, 2012 at 6:28 am
It matches her eyes.

As a guy who’s allergic to cats, let me assure you, that yoga mat is dead to Keifer.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:29 am
It appears that Kiefer has a tolerance for Esme now. He’s only had 1 sneezing fit since we moved in, and he has no proof that it was Esme related.
July 27th, 2012 at 1:23 pm
You think Esme really loves Kiefer? Esme has motives. She knows he’s allergic to her. BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…….think about it!
July 30th, 2012 at 6:30 am
I bet she walks up to him for petting appearing to be cute and loving while really she’s chanting, “Sneeze! Sneeze, my minion!”
July 27th, 2012 at 2:02 pm
Oh yes, my dogs ALWAYS cuddled hardest against those that hated and/or were allergic to them. Animals sense when there are people who don’t want the around, and then they THRUST their love upon them. Wait, that sounded dirtier than I intended. Meh.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:31 am
The word “thrust” tends to do that. But it’s funny so it’s ok. =)
July 27th, 2012 at 2:07 pm
How strange. That is exactly how I do yoga, too.
July 27th, 2012 at 2:57 pm
There’s Downward-Facing Dog in yoga, and Esme is doing the Not-Giving-a-Damn Cat. She’s got great form.
July 28th, 2012 at 9:58 am
Annnnd I just saw this comment. Well, er, great minds?
July 27th, 2012 at 6:09 pm
1) You can wash the mat in water on gentle in the washing machine. Just don’t try to dry it. Just hang it up.
2) Cats will always love the ones who avoid them. If the person doesn’t want to pet the cat, how is the cat to snub them?
3) If he didn’t want the cat on the mat, why did he put it on the floor?
July 30th, 2012 at 6:32 am
Good to know about washing but not drying the mat. Thanks!
July 28th, 2012 at 9:58 am
All I can picture right now is Esme, on the yoga mat, lazily going, “Downward-facing DOG? Puh!”
July 30th, 2012 at 6:32 am
I think those were her exact thoughts. Cat power!
July 28th, 2012 at 1:48 pm
What if you gave her the cold shoulder and pretended to be allergic?? Maybe then, you would be the new challenge.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:34 am
I am actually allergic to her, but I only have a problem when she tries to sleep on my chest. Which is probably why she does it.
July 28th, 2012 at 3:15 pm
You should probably just cut your losses and put the yoga mat on the bed.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:35 am
Now that Kiefer has given in on her being on the bed, she’s hardly ever up there anymore.
July 28th, 2012 at 7:06 pm
Bahahahhaaaaaaahahahaha I love that skank shot of Esme’s nipples. That yoga mat was my all time favorite too…I used it during a yoga class, and was determined to find it. I never did..so had to settle for a different green/tree mat from Gaiam.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:36 am
I’m pretty sure Esme was a stripper in a previous life.
Kiefer loves that mat, too. That’s why he’s still using it despite the Esme fur.
July 29th, 2012 at 9:26 pm
Esme is excellent at yoga. I believe that position in downward laying cat.
July 30th, 2012 at 6:37 am
I think she’s more about practicing yoga breathing than yoga stretching.
July 30th, 2012 at 2:40 pm
Look at Esme on that yoga mat. Two words – Kitty Belly.

She is a little chunky monkey.

They’re fickle little things. Mine is also a fair-weather friend and always goes for those who want nothing to do with her. She also likes yoga mats. I’d suggest a playdate, but I don’t want to be responsible for my cat biting your cat’s face. She’s mean to other animals, she’s kind of a jerk like that.

Cats make my face swell up, they also keep me awake with their amourous noises. Cats are whore-ish and disloyal. But who would blame them, a dog will suffer on beside you no matter what, poor dog.
