I am about to become a real-life Carmen San Diego. Except I won’t be a villain. I’ll just be traveling…a lot. Like a lot-a lot.
Here’s a few of my upcoming trips, so feel free to post suggestions of what I should do while I’m there.
I won’t have a lot of free time, so you should probably just post directions to the best ice cream shops.
Right Now/Week 1: San Antonio
Week 2: Reno
Week 3: The Florida Keys (for vacation, not work)
Week 4: Alabama
Week 5: Exhaustion
Oh wait…so that last one’s not a real place, but you get the idea.

Look at you go! Take a boat ride on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.
And I think the bars are the best places in the Keys. Ha! But Hemmingway’s house is cool. Have fun, Carmen!

Nice! No suggestions, just have fun.

San Antonio – wahoo! Welcome to Texas, Thoughtsy. My SA faves are Mi Tierra (for Mexican food, margaritas & a fabulous Mexican bakery) http://www.mitierracafe.com/menus_panaderia.html & Schilo’s Deli for awesome sandwiches and the best homemade root beer anywhere http://schilos.com/. Hope you enjoy your time in The Republic!

#5 is the only one I’ve visited. They serve great wings there.
Happy travels!

Well, if by “Keys” you mean Key West . . . go to Sloppy Joe’s. It’s a very famous bar/restaurant. They have live music at night and a couple times we were there they actually had a band from Bmore playing! Also, make sure you go to Blue Heaven for breakfast/brunch and get a mojito. They make the best ones I’ve ever had. Ever. Hmm, let’s see . . . try to see the sunset one evening if you can in Mallory Square (it’s like a little circus there every night at that time with all sorts of performers, including a very famous cat guy who trained his cats to do all sorts of tricks!). Oh man, there are so many more awesome things there. If you need more ideas, text me and I’ll try to think of some more things. I love Key West. And now I really wanna visit again.
Have some fun while you are away and try not to die of exhaustion. Let me know when you return to these parts for some period of time so we can get together. I have a couple things for you.

Sounds like fun!! Enjoy!!

San Antonio is my favorite! There’s a Ben & Jerry’s on the Riverwalk. There’s also Justin’s Ice Cream. A boat ride on the Riverwalk is a definite must. If you want to top your day off with a drink, pop into Durty Nelly’s Pub. You should also check out Madhatter’s Tea House & Cafe (not on the Riverwalk). Oh! Now I want to go!! *pout*

You should just wander with a sign that says, “Will trade for ice cream.” But don’t trade your goodies, trade something like toenails.

If you need anyone to carry your luggage…..let me know!

I disagree. That last one is a place. I live there. The ice cream doesn’t even taste good anymore. Happy trails!

Hope you get time to actually see those places instead of just blowing through them.
Have a blast!

I’ve only been to Exhaustion on that list. They have weak coffee and you can’t find a nap anywhere. Hope you enjoy your travels!

P.S. I love Carmen San Diego. I had a computer game I played in junior high that was perfect for this history/geography nerd.

Are you in San Antonio for the day of the dead? Because JEALOUS. Chilling on the river walk is all you need to do. Lots of cool jazz clubs and live music and awesome food.
I went to a pretty cool bar that wasn’t on the river walk but I won’t tell you more. a) because I don’t remember how we got there and it was underground. And b) because we found out when we got back that we are lucky we survived walking there in the middle of the night.

Lucky =D I’d love to travel around. Have a safe trip.

I loved Carmen San Diego. Make sure and steal the Alamo when you’re in San Antonio.
October 25th, 2012 at 7:25 pm
When you go to San Antonio, go to the Alamo (which is smaller than you think), and ask, in your best PeeWee Herman voice, “Where’s the basement?”
Because they’ve never heard that before.

Fantastic! I can’t think of anyone who’s more deserving of a holiday (except me! Lol) but I look forward to more tales and musings when you travel and hope you have a great break with no zombies!

Not sure what a person would do in Alabama. Does Honey Boo Boo live there? If so, you should stop over and say hi.
October 25th, 2012 at 8:40 pm
I thought it was very progressive of them to make the villain a female. Girls can do anything!
October 26th, 2012 at 6:24 am
It would not have surprised me at all if there was a placed called Exhaustion. There are villages in the Harz mountains in Germany called “Elend” (German word for misery) and “Sorge” (worry) and in Norfolk there’s a Great Snoring.

Fun! I love having trips to look forward to. Take lots and lots of pictures!
October 26th, 2012 at 4:26 pm
Wow, you are gonna be busy, try to enjoy
October 29th, 2012 at 5:49 am
Oy, you’re going to be all over the place!
October 29th, 2012 at 6:20 pm
Definitely see the Alamo in San Antonio. Much smaller than I expected and a quick trip. River Walk is across the street and the boat ride is kind of nice. Unless it’s cold outside.

When you go to Reno, you must go to the Original Nugget in downtown. Go in through the little casino to the diner in the back and get the Awful Awful Burger. It is basically the same as a massive in n out burger and served on a pound of fries. Its amazing deliciousness. Cash only (like $7 each)
